ALERT: FLAMBEAU CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION !!!!!!!!!!!!

The Flambeau Mining Company (FMC), a subsidiary of Kennecott Copper, has applied to the Wisconsin DNR for a Certificate of Completion (COC) for its reclamation activities at the Flambeau Mine site near Ladysmith. FMC wants this mine site to be declared "a success," as this will initiate the return of most of its $11 million reclamation bond. Having dogged this mining project since its early planning stages back in the 1970's, Northern Thunder has no intention of allowing our attention to fade now.

Though the DNR has tentatively approved the COC, it is now subject to a Contested Case Hearing. Northern Thunder will be represented in this process and believes it has strong evidence why this certificate should not be issued.

This issue not only impacts those of us who live in Wisconsin, but people in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Minnesota and elsewhere in the world where this highly dangerous practice is planned.
